Gender/Women in Judaism: Group and Individual

Before looking at specific issues within this topic, it is important to consider the fundamental dynamic that is at the root of the issue. Beyond even a general study of gender itself, is the very question of how we see and characterize human beings. We can view a human being as a singular individual but we also can, and do, view human beings as part of larger groupings.
